treasured finds

Hello!
I had decided not to opshop so much anymore because my house was filling up with too much stuff and it was making my head spin with panic at the sight of all these things all around me.  But then, I keep looking at other people’s blogs and the gorgeous things they find in charity shops, and, well you know....so I looks like I am losing the battle…. So, this morning I loaded the 3 kids at 8am in the car and off we went to town to visit one of my favourite opshops, which happens to open at 8.30 on Saturdays.  We were 10 minutes late, so I was a bit worried that all the goodies would be gone already.  As it turned out, there was no one in the shop, and the first customers to arrive after us were about 30 minutes behind us.  But then again, that didn’t make such a big difference, because there wasn’t much to get excited about.  I did find a lovely cotton sheet, a retro sort of bark cloth blanket/cover(?), my second retro one so I was rather pleased about that, and a couple of bits and pieces for the kids.  Yesterday I also found this gorgeous top, I am so in love with it, I would like to wear it every day, but maybe not…!  over the last couple of months, i have also been collecting some lovely old mirrors to put on our big wall, i still need more, but small ones so i'll just be patient until i find the right ones.  i love the look for them on the wall. and the bird cages, that's a work in progress...
That’s it really.  but there will be many many more cool finds at her library adventures's flea market finds on sunday.
Have a good weekend

great bread recipe

a friend of mine gave me this incredible bread recipe two years ago, and i only started using it a few months ago. it's amazing.
i wanted to share this recipe because i believe bread needn't be so expensive to buy, nor so time consuming to make (despite the fact that it is a lovely process).
this bread needs no kneading, no nothing pretty much, just prepare the dough in the evening (it literally takes about 3 minutes) and bake it in the morning, and... it looks like that when it comes out of the oven!

you'll need:
3 cups of flour (i try different types, it works best with white flour but most of the time i use the 4 grain flour, or wholemeal, or a mixture of different flours)
4 or 5 gms of yeasts
1 tsp of salt
1.5 cups of water
misc: i also add seeds (pumpkin, sunflower, poppy, etc)

all you need to do at night is:
mix all the ingredients together
cover with a damp cloth
leave to rest overnight

then when you are ready to cook it the day after:
preheat oven to 250 degrees celsius
then place a heavy casserole dish (le creuset type) with lid in the oven for 10 minutes
after 10min, put some flour in the bottom of the dish and place the dough gently in the centre
replace lid and put in oven for between 20 and 30 minutes (depending on your oven) at 220 degress (although you can leave it at 250 but check for cooking progress)
remove lid and cook for a further 10 minutes

and that's it.
and it tastes fabulous.
if you decide to try it, i hope you'll like the result. it has become a daily thing in our family, and everyone loves it. do let me know what you think of it if you try it.
enjoy!
