Goals and bits and pieces around the house

One of my goals this week was to tidy up one area of my house. I did it, and feel really happy that at least one area in my house is tidy. Ok, it wasn't the trickiest area to tidy up, but one has to start somewhere...! And my entrance was looking really horrible (as you can see on picture) and really needed to be worked on.

after

I am still working on Thomas's crochet blanket, I am pretty sure it will be finished by Sunday. Affaire a suivre...

In the meantime, Lulu has fallen in love with herself in front of the mirror, and at the same time practises her 5th word, 'béby' (a mix of the French 'bébé' and the English 'baby' - that's her!!)

And I felt like taking a few pictures of objects in my house...

Have a great weekend. It is wet here, so maybe there won't be any rugby for the boys and plenty of time together inside, which will be great for finishing the blanket!

Art dolls I love

I'm a big fan of art dolls.

It started when I found Harem6 (see their blog here). They are based somewhere in Romania, Eastern Europe. Their dolls are amazing. Have a look at the pictures of some of their work:

Aren't they original and quite beautiful? They are a bit dark and spooky I agree, but I think that is what gives them that edge that I really like.

And I really like these dolls too, from Evelyn's Wonderland (find blog here). Now they are so fine and eery, what an talented artist.

Then I found this site, The Doll and the Pea (click here for link). These little dolls are adorable.

Don't you think they are so cute and styly, and weird at the same time?

Oh, I wish I could own an art doll and display it in my house...

My goals this week

That will be interesting... I am going to have goals for this week and make them public, the idea being that this public commitment might help me achieve these goals. Mmmm....

If someone out there has got some great tips on how to commit to achieving your goals, please do let me know, I could really do with some help!! Maybe others might too!

  1. finish Thomas's peggy square blanket (Wendy is doing Aston's, and she is far ahead of me...)
  2. post some photos of the children to my parents in France
  3. read one Notebook: magazine I haven't yet read
  4. tidy up one area of my house (I think the table that ends up as the dumping ground)
I think that's enough for this week.

Do you have goals too? I wonder what other people's goals are...

Enjoy your week ahead xx

Op shopping treasures

Hello Everyone,
Opshopping on Saturday was so much fun. I experienced a real high in one shop where I got all these precious things:
a small and romantic art deco vase, a gorgeous glass cake stand (I literally run to it when I saw it, a move that has made me feel rather shameful since...but then again...I do love it and it only cost $3!!), and a cool fruit bowl with a spiralling scallop shell motif. And those beautiful retro thread spools with the most amazing thread colours: deep purple, orange, strong yellow, emerald green, soft pinks. To die for. I can't even craft with them, they are so beautiful (pity!).
And thank you to Sophie for giving us the opportunity to show off our little finds each week here. It's so much fun!
Have a great week xx

lovely brooches and more

I adore these little jewellery items by English artist trading under Acorn & Will (www.acornandwill.co.uk). They are very retro and fun. I got a couple of brooches last week, they are lovely and funky.

This week's thrift shops finds

Yesterday, I had a couple of spare minutes, so I run into one of my favourite opshops. And I found this plate, which I know my little Aston (6 years old) will love...
I also found this book the other day, it is 101 years old. How about that?! I was taken by the little note inside the front cover, it is gorgeous. The pictures inside are also beautiful. I was very pleased to find it, I love books.
